West Orange, NJ, June 8, 2012 - For the past two years NJAI has played host to the monthly open mic night Café Zed. The third Saturday of every month aspiring performers from all over the state have been joining together for a night of musical performances, comedy, poetry, dance and more. It’s only fitting that the first event NJAI will present at OSPAC is Café Zed on Saturday, June 16th. Admission $8. Anyone wishing to perform music, comedy, poetry, dance or any other performing art is encouraged to participate by signing up at 7pm on the night of the show. Every effort will be made to give all a chance to perform. The open mic will be followed with a concert performance by Mara Levine & Caroline Cutroneo. Mara Levine & Caroline Cutroneo have been singing original, traditional and contemporary folk and blues songs together for over 10 years. They will be joined by Carl Croce, Lou Russo and Al Sklar on stage. Folk vocalist and jewelry designer Mara Levine is known for her crystal clear voice, subtle vibrato and skillful way with a melody line. Caroline is an award winning singer/songwriter-guitarist from Staten Island. She has opened for Pete Seeger, shared the stage with Bill Staines and delights her audience with original songs and rare finds from obscure sources.
What to bring: Bring a lawn chair/blanket and picnic for the hill.
