It's summertime and the living is easy.
August. Take your place at OSPAC and settle in for a month of the greatest musicians in the world playing tasty music while you dine on swinging food from Rollin' Bistro.
The month starts off with Cliburn Gold Winner Vadym Kholodenko, then Geri Allen solo piano and the First Annual OSPAC Guitar Festival. Next, Violinist Zach Brock brings his all-star quartet. The summer days get hotter and lazier, so we cool things down with some of the coolest music around - Adam Rudolph's Moving Pictures and The Cookers!
The husband and wife team of Saar Ahuvia and Stephanie Ho come to play Igor Stravinsky's "The Rite of Spring", and to conclude our concert series, Downtown meets Delhi when chamber musicians and India's virtuosi get together for a spirited evening of sonic fireworks.
We end the month of August with a tribute to a great friend of the piano who left us way too early - Mulgrew Miller. The day features Dave Burrell, Marc Cary, James Weidman, Rodney Kendrick, Armen Donelian, Jochem LeCointre and others.
Wow. What a month! No time to rest, for tomorrow we finish off our summer season with the 11th Annual OSPAC Jazz Festival with Gary Bartz and his Quartet, Bill Charlap, Renee Rosnes, Osmany Paredes, Aaron Diehl, Warren Wolf and others.
