The following list of Programs, Classes and Workshops is under development and represents the foundation of the courses to be offered by NJAI.   Workshops for the, A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Festival, July 18th & 19th, are open for audition/enrollment.  Thanks to the generous support of JP Morgan Chase Foundation, participants will pay only a $50 administration fee to enroll. View link            Application   The following classes are available currently, and scheduled as requested by individuals for one-to-one intensives or for group seminars. The New Jersey Arts Incubator will continually refine and expand its programs and services in an effort to effectively respond to the needs of participants, students and audiences. NJAI participants of all ages, socio-economic groups, and physical abilities and arts organizations may participate in all activities at NJAI. Business Development for the artist and arts non-profit: The following workshops and seminars will be held in single sessions or in two day intensives. Members and non-members welcome. The Business of a Working Artist The operative word in this course title is business. To be a successful artist, one must recognize the business requirements from defining the mission, creating a business plan and a budget and establishing goals and objectives. Business Plans for Artist and Arts Organizations What is a business plan and why do artists need one? Step by step instructions for creating a business plan for the artist and the arts organization. Creating an Arts Business From filing as a profit or non-profit business entity to applying for a 501CS status from the IRS, the pros and cons and decisions one must make and actions one must take to create an arts related business. Building a Strong Non-Profit Board of Trustees Arts organizations that are non-profit entities rely on a strong board of trustees with varying skills. Learn how to build and retain a board of trustees that will work for your organization through this board development workshop. The Strategic Plan (your road map to success) A successful organization requires a clear strategic plan. Get support from this workshop to outline and develop a strategic plan for your organization. NJ Non-Profit Lawyers for the Arts Contracts, negotiations, laws and regulations, a Q&A seminar to help you understand what Non-Profit Lawyers for the Arts can do for your organization. Grant Writing Intensive How to identify opportunities that are right for your organization and how to execute a winning grant application are just two of the many issues explored in this grant writing workshop. Public Relations and Marketing for Non-Profits How to establish a high-end public relations and marketing plan for your organization on a non-profit budget. Combining elements, cross marketing and digital technology are just a few of the techniques explored. The Non-Profit – how to thrive in a struggling economy Executive Officers from New Jersey’s most successful non-profits share their insights on how to thrive, or just survive, in a struggling economy. Life in the Balance Life skills for the struggling artist and arts organization administrator are explored and developed through a combination of life and spirit coaching techniques and exercises uniquely designed. How to Be a Working Actor  Strategic planning for getting the job.  Interview technique, marketing - pictures and resumes, web posting, web pages. Talent agents, casting directors, managers, who are they and what do they want? Picking audition material and taking the classes that you need. Putting it Together How to generate interest from galleries, agents and buyers for the visual artist. Step by step planning for marketing, presenting and displaying work to attract attention in the field.     One on One Mentoring A program matching an advanced or graduate member or member organization with a beginning artist or arts organization for one on one support in art and business development. Presentation Training     All the Worlds a Stage Use your artistic skills and your performance training to your advantage when giving speeches, teaching a seminar or presenting your work to donors. Group and one-on-one training in presentation technique.     Interview Technique Learn specific techniques for interview opportunities as varied as interviews with print, audio and visual media about your work or organization to job interview skills from both sides of the table.     Managing the Media Building relationships with the media is a cornerstone to your marketing plan. Identify the media most likely to cover you and your organization. Learn how to establish and maintain positive working relationships with media to benefit your business and organization.     Presentation Speaking Use your natural speaking voice to its best advantage when presenting your work or company. Reduce noticeable speech impediments, overcome fears of public speaking when not in character and the power of breathing.     The Written Word     Group workshops in creative writing and novel writing, including presentations by published authors. Poetry Circle Explore and develop skills of poetry writing through reading and writing original works by class participants and published works. Poetry reading event in NJAI theater at culmination of the year-long program by invitation. Play Reading Series A selected group of participants read aloud from scripts chosen from submissions geared toward staged readings and possible full productions at NJAI.
